Deluge Sprinkler Systems: The structure of deluge sprinkler systems is similar to wet and dry pipe systems but the main differences from these systems are as follows:
a) Open type sprinklers are used. There are no heat sensitive elements that activate the sprinklers. The system is connected to a sensing system or a device that opens the valve. When the deluge alarm valve is opened, the water is discharged from the sprinkler heads on the line to the fire place and the place is floated with water.
b) The control valve is normally kept closed. It is activated by means of fire detection system. Deluge systems are used in the control of rapidly expanding fires and in places where plenty of water is needed in a short time.
